Very cute stone rubbing print "Jizo - Hijiri" (Jizo Statue - Wondering Monks) is by Shakudoshi (1932- ). This is called "Ishizuri -e" (stone rubbing print). "Ishizuri-e" is also handmade similar to woodblock prints.  Printed on very thin Japanese washi paper. The poem says; "Haru wa hana, Natsu hototogisu, Aki wa tsuki, Fuyu yuki saete, suzushi karikeri"

This poem "To everything, there is a season" means when we see the seasons changing, nature is also changing... automatically we are getting a clear mind when we see this. Just admire 'Beauty of nature" 

This poetry is waka (Japanese poem) written by Dogen Zenji (1200-1253), a Japanese Zen Buddhist teacher born in Kyoto.

About this artist. Shakudoshi was born 1932. His real name is Tatsuo Takagi. He became a student under Rosanjin Kitaoji in 1958, then he became a pupil of Shiko Munakata in 1960. He started "Ishizuri-e" (Stone rubbing print) in 1972. He had an exhibition in Japan, his heartwarming prints with friendly subjects attract us from the heart.
