This extremely rare woodblock print "Buriki no kunsho" (The decorating tin-plate) by Hiroyuki Tajima (1911-1984). This print looks like beautiful stained glass. Absolutely beautiful. He is best well known for his totally abstract prints with broad areas of rich dense colors. His abstracted images, luminous color, density and sheer imaginative power have made him one of the most popular artists all of over the world. He is well known artist outside of Japan than inside Japan. Bold colors and strong ink bleed through. Pencil signed lower right margin "Hiroyuki Tajima" and dated '71. Title "Buriki no kunsho" (The decorating tin-plate) and sheet number 50-2 (2/50) on the left margin. Once framed. His works are in the collection of many public and private institutions; among which, the British museum, Chicago Art Institute, Fogg Museum (Harvard University), Brooklyn Museum, MoMA (The Museum of Modern Art) in NY.
