Wonderful woodblock print "Hamacho gashi" (Hamacho River Bank) is by Hasui Kawase (1883-1957). Excellent shading throughout with light embossing. First printed in 1925, originally by Isetasu (publisher); this is a later printing by Shobisha from original blocks. Shobisha obtained the original blocks in about 1950 from Isetasu. Signed Hasui with red artist seal "sui". The left margin contains the title "Hamacho gashi"(Hamacho River Bank) and "Taisho 14 nen"(printed in 1925) in Japanese. Very wonderful "bokashi" shading through print with finely carved details. Beautiful sunlight reflection on the water brings nostalgia. Please see the pictures.
