Wonderful woodblock print  "Haniwa to Tsubo" (Earthenware Dog and Vase) is by Toru Mabuchi (1920-1994). "Haniwa" is a clay figure in the shape of men, women, or animals. They were made for ritual use and buried with the dead as funerary objects during the Tumulus period. Beautiful woodgrain background enhances this rustic image. Very charming print.

Signed: Block signed "T. MABUCHI"  in the lower right corner of the image. 
Condition: Excellent condition with minor paper toning from old age. A faint ink spot on the bottom margin (edge) which will be easily matted out. Once tipped on verso. (top edge)
