Very cute stone rubbing print "Jizo - Kinuta" (Jizo Statue - Playing) is by Shakudoshi (1932- ). This is called "Ishizuri -e" (stone rubbing print). "Ishizuri-e" is also handmade similar to woodblock prints. Printed on very thin Japanese washi paper. The poem says; "Blown from the west, fallen leaves gather in the east" This poem was written by Buson Yosa (1716-1783), who is a Japanese painter, and great haiku poet master.

About this artist. Shakudoshi was born 1932. His real name is Tatsuo Takagi. He became a student under Rosanjin Kitaoji in 1958, then he became a pupil of Shiko Munakata in 1960. He started "Ishizuri-e" (Stone rubbing print) in 1972. He had an exhibition in Japan, his heartwarming prints with friendly subjects attract us from the heart. Technique: Stone rubbing
