Striking silkscreen print "Sugo zishi" (Shishi 'Lion' Dance in Sugo) is by Masaaki Tanaka (b.1947). Sheet number 267/850, title in Japanese, and hand-signed on the bottom margin. Masaaki Tanaka was born in Tokyo in 1947. He graduated from Musashino Art University with a major in Oil Painting in 1971. He educated himself in silkscreen after learning woodblock printmaking and stone lithography, while making repeated visits to Europe and the United States. His silkscreen shows Japanese traditional festivals or cultures. His work is found in the collection of the Art Institute of Chicago, Honolulu Museum of Art, and Albrecht Fine Art Museum. Now he is a well-known silkscreen artist. His collectors are based worldwide.
