The beautiful woodblock print "Setonaikai Kokuritsu Koen" (Seto Island Sea National Park) is by Hideo Nishiyama (1911-1989). Phenomenal nature image of Seto Island Sea National Park with a whirlpool. Printer: Shinmi, Carver: Nagashima, and Unsodo publisher seal on the left margin. Title "Setonaikai Kokuritsu Koen" (Seto Island Sea National Park), Artist's name "Nishiyama Hideo saku" and dated "Showa 35 nen" (1960) in Japanese on the right margin. "Gei" watermark on the upper left margin corner. Very different and unique style woodblock print. Hard to find these old original first edition prints nowadays. 

Hideo Nishiyama (1911 - 1989) was born in Kyoto. He was a well-known (Nihon-ga) Japanese painting artist in Japan. Unsodo published "The Woodblock Prints -National Parks Series" by Hideo Nishiyama and Kaii Higashiyama in 1960.

Setonaikai National Park is a national park comprising areas of Japan's Inland Sea and of ten bordering prefectures. Designated as a national park in 1934, it has been expanded several times. Condition: Very good condition. Minor ink smudge on the bottom margin. Once tipped and paper scuffs on the top edge of the verso. Please see the picture.  toning.
