Kan Kawada

5557

The beautiful stencil print 'Nihon no Shiki' (Four Seasons of Japan) is by Kan Kawada (1927–1999). This print masterfully captures the essence of each season in Japan through iconic seasonal motifs in a single image. The bold colors and striking contrast make it truly eye-catching. The Japanese title "Nihon no Shiki" is dated '84, with sheet number 85/120, and is hand-signed by the artist on the bottom margin. Originally a "Katazome" (stencil dyeing) artist, Kan Kawada created many stunning stencil prints like this. He is a well-known artist, particularly outside of Japan. Kawada's striking red color and dynamic compositions are highly attractive to collectors worldwide.

Following his death in 1999, the prices of his artwork quickly rose, making his limited edition prints increasingly difficult to find in excellent condition. This particular print is part of a limited edition of only 120 copies.
