Printer: Shinmi, Carver: Nagashima, and Unsodo publisher seal on the left margin. Title "Unzen Amakusa Kokuritsu Koen" (Unzen Amakusa National Park), Artist's name "Nishiyama Hideo saku" and dated "Showa 35 nen" (1960) in Japanese on the right margin. "Gei" watermark on the upper left margin corner. Very different and unique style woodblock print. Hard to find these old original first edition prints nowadays.
Hideo Nishiyama (1911 - 1989) was born in Kyoto. He was a well-known (Nihon-ga) Japanese painting artist in Japan. Unsodo published "The Woodblock Prints -National Parks Series" by Hideo Nishiyama and Kaii Higashiyama in 1960.

Unzen-Amakusa National Park (Unzen-Amakusa Kokuritsu Kōen) is a national park in Nagasaki, Kumamoto, and Kagoshima Prefectures, Japan. The stunning and rare woodblock print "Kuramae Kokugi-kan" (The Kuramae Sumo Arena) is by Junichiro Sekino. From Oku no hosomichi series. Kuramae Kokugi-kan was built by the Japan Sumo Association in Kuramae, Taito-ku, Tokyo. Even though it is a heavy snowy day, many audiences and sumo wrestlers are around there. This print captured the lively scene in those days very well. Artist's red seal "Seki" on the lower right corner of the image. This charming Bijin-ga woodblock print is by Hiroshige Ando. Wonderful details and beautifully embossed. The Japanese title is "Edo Murasaki Meisho Genji, Mitate Ukifune, Sumidagawa no Watashi" English translation is "Parody of the 'Ukifune"(Floating boat) chapter: Ferry on the Sumida River - From the series "Famous Places in Edo and Murasaki (Tale of Genji)". This print is a later printing in the Taisho era. The publisher is Koazuma Nishikie Hozonkai. Beautiful woodblock print "Kawaguchiko Fukin" (Around Lake Kawaguchi) is by Koichi Okumura (1904-1974). Wonderful autumn image with Mt. Fuji and persimmon. Nice colors and contrast. Koichi Okumura (1904 - 1974) was an artist in Kyoto who designed woodblock prints for the Unsodo publisher. Okumura was a Nihon-ga (Japanese-style painting) painter. He is a well-known very famous Japanese painting artist in Japan.
